Its race time for Games
February 25, 2008
Its been a while since I last spoke to you all, quite a bits been happening, ive had training days and just done my first ever U21's race. Couple of weeks ago I had an Acu Academy training day at the track called Arncott, I hadnt been there before and it turned out really good, was a bit wet but soon dried outan everyone was flat out, we concentrated on cornering, starts and moto's.

The ACU Academy headed to Toni-moto in the week for a day on the bike which really helped with the U21's at Little Silver coming up the weekend. It helped me out cos I don’t get to ride during the week because of work, but I managed to get the day off, and it was well worth it, we did long Motos to get us used to our races at the adult races and lap timing, Ive never done lap timing before but was really fun.I was really nervous about the weekend coming up so kept asking Mark Hucklebridge for advice, he was awesome, everything he kept telling me he said it in a way to get my confidence up and make me feel good, one day I hope I can grow to be something like Mark , the guy is so down to earth and will do anything to help and boy aint he fast.

Anyway Saturday I received my race bike for the weekend so I popped down to WinterBourne Gunner so I could have a quick on it. Brights Auto Centre done an awesome job on the Engin(Thanks Andy) that bike rips!, I only managed to get 30 mins practise on the bike but everything felt really stiff and uncomfortable. Bud Suspension were awesome, I rang Scott Gardener up and explained what I wasunhappy about and he tried his best to sort it out. (Thanks Scot).
Sunday Race Day!!! Qualifying and I was "pooping" my pants, Ha Ha!, the immediate difference I noticed was "this aint no schoolboy racing anymore". The times are so much closer and if you don’t get a decent lap in , you are not making it into the main race! I struggled with the bike and was still unhappy, I managed to get 13th in qualifying, I was a bit upset with 13th as I know I could have rode a lot better.
Race 1….. Got the Holeshot! My first ever U21s and got the Holeshot!!!! GO ME. I quickly dropped back to 3rd, then I got back to 2nd but crashed on a tricky shicane, I dropped back to 9th but managed to pull through to 7th by the end of the race, I got arm pump so bad.
Race 2….. Got another awesome start, My Golden Tyres were awesome, they asked me to try a new tyre they had and boy does that baby grips!!! I went into the 1st corner 2nd, I was holding 2nd for a lap but Alex Snow and Matt Moffat found a way through and I was sitting in 4Th, I had Joe dark all over me, I made a mistake and Joe got passed me, I then sat in 5th place for pretty much the whole race with 5 mins to go Greedy was there behind me in 6th, I had 5th comfortable but lost controll and tumbled down the hill which allowed Greedy to pass me, I finished 6th place.
Overall I finished 5th.
Id say 5th in the U21s and seeing as it was my first ever one aint bad. I rode tight all weekend and I still not comfortable on the bike, but when I do who knows maybe a win!
Take it easy guys… DG48.
