CMX Centre steps up to the mark
November 23, 2007
With the continuous problems in the UK with tracks closing due to noise and environmental issues, it’s great to see the people of Cardiff are doing something positive for the sport.
The CMX Centre which was set up by Cardiff County Council this year to tackle off-road nuisance in the city and also provide a place to ride for legitimate riders.
A CMX spokesman explained what it’s all about, “we have been open just over a month now and we have already had a lot of interest from all over Wales and we haven’t even advertised yet, we are running a limited opening period with 10 riders on the track at a time. Eventually we will have three tracks consisting of a junior/beginner track, an intermediate track for novice youth and adult and the Pro track which is the primary track we use.
The Pro Track is just over 2km long with tabletops, rhythm sections, drop-offs and chicanes. The track is used regularly by some of the top riders in the country including Mark Jones, Jamie Lewis, Ashley Greedy, Glen Phillips and Bret Hillman. We also hold regular coaching days with some of these riders to help improve rider’s skills”.
