HIGH FIVES - Alan Keet
July 31, 2008
For those that don’t know much about yourself can you give us a brief insight about yourself and your major achievements throughout your career?
My name is Alan Keet; I’m 17 and live in Hampshire. I’ve been riding for 10 years and it all started when I was 7 on a 60. I began racing straight away and when I was nine I was 2nd in the British Schoolboy 65 class, and the following year I went on to win that championship. Whilst riding on an 85, I finished 3rd while competing in the European 85’s championship. I turned expert last year when I competed in some rounds of both the MMX Under 21s championship as well as the Maxxis series. This year I am competing in the full campaign of both series.

We are well into the racing calendar now, how do you feel it has gone for you and do you feel you have achieved your expectations from the beginning of the season?
Yes I feel the season has gone well for me. My main goal I set myself was to gain a top ten finish in a Maxxis race, in which I achieved this while racing at the 5th round which was at Desertmartin were I finished 7th in the opening race. One thing I have not been so happy with this year is my starts, which normally leaves me with a lot of work to do during the race, but as the season has gone on I have gelled with the bike and they have been improving.
This season you are riding for the Pioneer Emberson Yamaha team. How have things been going and have you settle in well?
Things have been going really well. I have settled in really well and I get on very well with the riders on the team as well as all the mechanics etc. The bike is very good to and throughout the season it has been improving every race which is very encouraging that the team are always trying to take it to the next level.

Which has been your best race so far this season?
I would have to say that opening race at Desertmartin. I was third out of the gate and was running behind Shaun Simpson and Martin Barr. I stayed in that position for 25 minutes and felt comfortable running in that position and with my pace. I then made a slight mistake which was simply a lack of concentration. I then lost my goggles and got filled in by the back markers but ended up finishing in 7th which I was very happy with.
Over the next couple of seasons what would you like to have achieved?
This year I have already achieved my top ten position, but I would also like to qualify for a GP, which hopefully I will be in for Lommel.

Over the next couple of years I would like to regularly be taking part in the GP calendar.
