HIGH FIVES - Lee Dunham

May 02, 2008

For the past couple of years Motoxtreme Kawasaki's Lee Dunham has been one of the top riders in the National AMCA championships and has been a member of the Great Britain IMBA team. I took some time out at the British Masters meeting at Dean Moor to have a chat with the likeable lad from Gloucestershire and find out why he's got the nickname 'Dangerous Dunham!' and a little bit more.

MOTO: You’ve got the nickname DANGEROUS, how did u pick that up?
Ummm... well to be honest I haven't got a clue! But it’s stuck now with the team and everyone around! I think Tom Brown at Motoxtreme started the rumour but it’s a mystery really.

MOTO: What's it like when you ride for Great Britain in the IMBA's?
The European meetings are amazing!, I think in Switzerland last year there was 25,000 people watching and it was the same in Germany. The track preparations, race program, and general attitude towards motocross is much greater there, and to be a part of a team representing your country is something very special.

MOTO: Is work quite flexible with your racing, do they let you have time off for all your training and racing?
Work is really good with that, partly because I work alongside my Dad in the motor trade and luckily I train with Mark Hucklebridge and a few of the other boys from Marshfield, they all work as well so we meet up after work to go training.

MOTO: Have you ever considered switching to the ACU?
To be honest yes, lots of times. Steve Gutteridge from Kawasaki mentioned it once and my reply was 'When I’m fast enough!', but for the last few years, I have been riding in Europe with the AMCA and this experience was incredible! I have so much fun doing those meetings, new tracks, and new conditions so it would be very hard to leave something that I enjoy so much.

MOTO: What's your goals for the season?
I want to win some Silverware!
