HIGH FIVES - Luke Hawkins

June 18, 2008

Luke Hawkins is a young lad who looks certain to have a big future in Motocross, after watching another dominant display from him recently in the Big Wheel 85 class at the British Masters Championship Round at Culham, he claimed his 14th race win from 14 attempts!, I took some time to find out a little bit more about him.

So, who is Luke Hawkins?
Well, I'm 14 years old and I come from Bath, near Bristol, and I ride a Par Honda 150f in the Big Wheel 85 class.

How has the season going so far?
It's going real good so far, I haven't had any injuries and I've won every race in the British Masters and I'm leading the BYMX championship by 49 points, I've won the last 8 races in that as well.

Presumably you’re planning a career in Motocross, where do you see things going for you?
Eventually I'd like to race in America, because there is a lot more money to be made over there but if that doesn't happen I'd still like to do the World Championships. I've started practicing on a 250f already because I'm totally dialled in with the 150f and I'm going to be stepping up to the 125/250 class after this season and I want to be up to speed on it so as I am 100% comfortable before the start of next year.

How do you balance Schoolwork with all your racing and practicing?
I have a bit of trouble with school but they're not too bad!!!, I have most Wednesday's off so as I can go practicing and then it's just the weekends that we're away racing so they're fine with that.

What do you get up to away from Motocross?
Nothing really, just focused on the MX!
