High Fives with Alex Rockwell - Danger UK Honda

March 27, 2008

The 2007 British youth motocross champion Alex Rockwell made the decision not to race in the MX2 class in 2008, instead jump straight into the MX1 class with the likes of Billy Mackenzie, Brad Anderson and Tom Church.
MOTO Reporter Stuart Cawse sat down with the Isle of Man rider for a HIGH FIVE chat.

MOTO: How did last year go for you?
AR: It was brilliant - I won the BYMX Championship and I was leading the MXY2 class last year up until Brampton when I went over the bars and I tore some ligaments in my hip which effectively ended my championship hopes.

MOTO: How have your winter preparations gone?
AR: I feel they have gone awesome; I spent two months with team Danger UK in Spain training and doing lots of riding.

MOTO: This year sees you’re riding for the Danger UK team, how are you finding things?
AR: Awesome, I’ve settled in really well and find the team very helpful. I love the bikes I just feel they suit my riding style naturally.

MOTO: Last year saw you raced in the MXY2 class and this year you’re on a 450cc in the MX1 class, how are you finding the switch in class and machinery and why did you change to the 450cc machine?
AR: Well during last season when I was out practising I had a go on a 450 and fell in love with it straight away, so I always knew from then on I was going to go 450. But I also feel it’s cheaper for me to run a 450F than it is a 250F machine.

MOTO: What are your goals for 2008?
AR: Regular top fifteen finishes in the Maxxis British Motocross Championship and to gain regular top ten finishes in the British Fourstroke Championship.

MOTO: Thanks Alex and good luck for the season.
