High Fives with Brad Anderson - Swift Suzuki
March 25, 2008
MOTO reporter Ade Threasher caught up with Swift Suzuki's new signing Brad Anderson whilst we were waiting for a tow out of the paddock after the weekends racing at Canada Heights.
MOTO: After trying so hard for so long we can now say 'Brad Anderson, full time Grand Prix rider', how does that sound?
BA: It's good - I've been trying for so long to be a Grand Prix rider so hopefully now I am it will all come together, I've got all the backing of Suzuki Swift this year so it's good to know that I'll be at all the GP's.
MOTO: How are you finding the Suzuki after so many years on Yamaha?
BA: Well a bike's a bike to me! When I jump on one I seem to adapt to it easily all the bikes are pretty good but I do feel really comfortable on the Suzuki and I'm happy with how it's going.
MOTO: Have you adjusted your training in any way now that you’re going to be doing the GP's?
BA: I try to keep my training the same every year because I find that if I try and change what I do I seem to get a bad back, it's been like this for years, so rather than risking that and being out of action for a couple of months I'll be keeping it the same.
MOTO: You've had a third overall at round one of the Maxxis British championship and now a second overall here at Canada Heights, how long until you can get onto the top spot of the podium?
BA: As they say it goes 3-2-1 so hopefully at the next round!
I just need to get the starts because I know I can beat Billy but his bike is so good at getting out of the gate and it’s hard to catch up when he's gone.
MOTO: You were the reserve rider for the British Motocross of Nations team in 2007; do you think you can make it into the team for this year?
BA: It's too early to say really - Billy's going well - Tommy's going well and Swordy's going well, so it's hard to tell but I would love to see myself in the team. I've just got to keep trying and we'll think about that later on in the season.
Thanks Brad and good luck for the start of the GP season.
