Part deux of Max Anstie’s Interview

November 29, 2007

British motocross is certainly on a high at the moment not only do we have Tommy Searle and Steven Clarke but we also have our very own redhead wonder in Max Anstie who is setting the world on fire on his KTM 85 in Europe and the USA. We caught up with Max just after his first compeititve ride in the USA at the Mini O’s in Florida.

MOTO: Your next major event is Lake Whitney, what are your plans from now until then?

MA: Well we got beat at Mini Os but we were not at 100%, we are going to go back to the drawing board and start doing our home work on the tracks over here – doing a bit of testing with the bike and go and work on the sections we need to work on to be that bit closer next time.
Apart from that I will just be doing school work. My school is great they email me my work and I go back in May for my MOC GCSE exams. When all my friends from Europe come out we will be training and riding with them but before then we might go over to Texas for training at Lake Whitney track and Oakhill the race after Whitney.

MOTO: Fairplay education is a must - While the MOTO posse is here in Blighty freezing our bits off, what’s the weather like in California?

MA: Well what do you think?
Yeh it’s a lot better than back home that’s for sure. If any of you guys want to come out for some serious training check out my website at http://www.anstieracing.com (will be updated soon) or ring my dad at 001 714 624 1668 come out for winter training, come out to see the Supercross races and come out for Amateur Nationals.
Bikes can be hired or arranged to be bought, why be sat at home when you can come over here and ride everyday – it’s cool.

MOTO: We just might take you up on that offer and show you how it’s done - With so many tracks in around where you live, tell us about what you’ve seen so far?

MA: I've only just got back from Florida - I've only been to one track so far and that’s Perris, Sebastian Tortelli and Rick Johnson own that track and have been helping me out.
From the times I have been here before the tracks are amazing compared to the tracks in the U.K, you go to Glen Helen and its like going up MT Everest.
There are many good tracks that are fully watered, prepped and open from dusk to dawn - come and check them out with us.

MOTO: I think you’re trying to tell us something - RANDOM QUESTION – What will Santa be dropping down your chimney this year?

MA: HA-HA hopefully some nice food and tea bags - just think about me and my Dad living and cooking on our own - "Hells Kitchen" springs to mind.
You can’t find in any supermarkets that sell Tetley teabags, if only they had a Tesco!

MOTO: There you go Max your part-time job in the USA could be the Tetley teas sales agent HA-HA.

Thanks for that Max and see you guys in January.
