HERE COMES THE SUN - What a difference a day can make. I never really thought about that much until recently. I’ll level with you, I’m currently going through the toughest time of my life and it will come as no surprise that it involves that one bitter – sweet emotion that is the toughest to deal with. I’ll let you work out which particular lightening bolt I’ve been struck down with. Still I’m not going to go into detail here like you are the shrink and this is the couch, oh no. I’m a big believer of the ‘you reap what you sow’ theory of life, as well as ‘time waits for no man’, so it’s onwards and upwards from here in every sense of the term.

The irony of it all is that since my world has been turned upside down the sun has not stopped shining. Now ain’t that saying something? Now there’s even more reason to get out and ride, like there is a God that likes me after all, and I’ve been taking him up on his offer. Now this coming year has a different spin and a bloody exciting one at that. Like being smacked in the face with a wet kipper suddenly I realise more than ever how much I need motocross. I don’t just enjoy riding and watching motocross and love it’s people, I actually need them to live: collectively, they are the air that I breath. Motocross has given me so much and yet again it’s going to be my salvation. There really isn’t anything else like it, especially riding. It’s such a personal and private experience and that still belongs to me. Just like your experience will belong to you.

As I sit here writing this it’s only one week to go ‘til the first major British championship race – the MMX Open and Under 21 Championship and I’m so upbeat about it, it almost feels like I’m a racer again. Obviously I have a keen interest in the race as the Twisted 7 / Moto team will be going for the championship so just to get that quest up and running is exciting, mind you we’re far from ready at this moment (you can read more about that on page 38) but hey, we’re moving in the right direction. So too is this magazine, and so am I, and I hope that you are too. Make this year count, make everyday count because you know what? Life’s just too damn short, so enjoy the ride.

See you at the races.
