BEER BY THE TANKER LOAD AT THE BRITISH MXGP
May 02, 2008
RHL Activities has teamed up with Ice Cool Bars to provide the huge amount of beer and the speedy bar service required for this year's Motocross Grand Prix of Great Britain, which takes place on 1st June at Mallory Park.
Rather than shipping in vast numbers of barrels to satisfy the requirements for thousands of thirsty race fans, Ice Cool Bars have gone for the wholesale approach by organising beer tankers for the most important off-road event on the British calendar.
The drinks provider has vast experience of catering for large numbers of customers at outside events, and has invested close to £100,000 in equipment designed to speed up service and reduce queuing time.
The tankers on site will feed six dispensers in the main bar area, all of which can pour drinks at a rate of 12 pints per minute, making for a total capacity of 72 pints served every 60 seconds.
Ice Cool Bars will provide one main bar and four satellite bars around the event venue. All the bars will operate on a token system, so that staff can concentrate solely on pouring pints rather than operating tills, ensuring that service is as rapid as possible.
And if that's not enough to quench the thirst of race fans, then they will also be able to purchase drinks from 'stop me and buy one' staff, who will be circulating the public areas with jet packs offering Carlsberg lager and soft drinks to those fans located away from the bar areas.
In addition to the large amount of lager being brought to the Grand Prix, Ice Cool Bars has two chilled articulated trailers filled with draught cider, bitter, wine and spirits – so there certainly won't be a shortage of beverages during the Mallory Park weekend!
And for those that prefer to enjoy their drinks away from the beer tent, canned drinks can be pre-ordered on the Ice Cool Bars website and then collected from a central point on arrival at the event.
Tokens can be purchased, and pre-orders placed, on the Ice Cool Bars website at http://www.icecoolbars.co.uk. Tokens will also be available to purchase onsite at the event. Discounts are available for bulk orders; please see the website for more details.

"We are very excited to be a part of the UK's most important motocross event this year. We have worked closely with RHL Activities to ensure that our bar service has been tailored exactly to the unique requirements of this event, and we've invested a significant amount in the equipment that we will have on site to meet demand. At full flow, our bar staff will be able to serve around 72 pints of lager per minute in the main beer tent, which should be sufficient to satisfy even the most thirsty of race fans!"
Gareth Hockey: Director, RHL Activities Limited
"We have chosen all our service partners very carefully and in Ice Cool Bars I think we have found the best company to provide our bar service at the Motocross Grand Prix of Great Britain. The beer tent will be central to our entertainment plans for the Saturday night, which we'll be announcing shortly, and it's important that people can get served without having to queue for ages. I think that, with the tankers and the serving equipment that Ice Cool Bars will have at the event, we will have the capacity to keep everyone happy."
