HIGH FIVE - RAY ROWSON
November 01, 2007
Ray Rowson is a champion in waiting; Ray won the British under21 championship this year and is without a doubt one of the UK’s promising young stars – with a little bit of luck and a full season without injuries, the Shropshire based rider could be tagging along with the top five in the Maxxis British championship for sure.
With a new team and a new bike what are Ray’s plans for 2008?
MOTO: So you’ve signed for PAR Honda for the 2008 season, how did that come about?
RR: Well we have always spoke when we meet and Paul asked what my plans were for 2008 season at Namur GP - I didn’t know so we got talking and he said he was interested in me for the 2008 season, we spoke following week at Brampton with Roger Harvey and Paul and they seemed really keen to help me so I spoke to Lisa Church at Molson Kawasaki, they didn’t really have any plans but did offer me the same ride with them as I had for the last two years but I felt that PAR had more to offer in the way of plans so I signed with them!

MOTO: Are you racing MX1 or MX2 next year?
RR: I’m not sure what I’m going to ride next season yet we are still deciding, Paul said he doesn’t mind what I ride so we are just seeing what suits me best but I like both bikes.
MOTO: What goals have you set yourself for 2008?
RR: Um, just to be faster than I was this year - I like to keep my goals to my self so if I don’t achieve them I don’t look a fool but if I do then that’s good.
MOTO: You recently raced at the beach race, how did you get on?
RR: I think I was doing ok – on lap one I was about 8th but then the bike broke about 7 laps into the race so I think I ended up around the 285th spot but it was great fun.
MOTO: What’s the funniest thing you noticed while riding at Weston?
RR: I don’t know really - I did see superman and that was weird – I’m now a great believer HAHA.
MOTO: Cheers Raymondo have a good off season and MOTO will see you at the first round of the Maxxis.
