High fives with Sam Davis
July 25, 2007
Is 14 year old Sam Davis our next big thing? High Fives caught up with the Albion Honda rider at the recent Elite round for a quick chinwag. MOTO: How’s you Sam?SD: I’m fine thanks.
MOTO: This is the first time you’ve raced at Landrake, what do you think? SD: I walked the track yesterday, they’ve prepared it really well and it looks good.
I watched the Maxxis here and I really wanted to ride it then but I had to wait, but yeh it looks really good. MOTO: Where are you in the Elite championship at the moment?
SD: Third in the Elite as I didn’t have a very good round at Matchams but I’m hoping to take the lead today. MOTO: What riders do you look at as your biggest championship threat?
SD: James Hutchinson is leading the series and Daniel Hutchinson is second, so I’m hoping to stay ahead of them. MOTO: What have you got planned for the rest of the year?
SD: I go to Sweden for the Honest International which I’m looking forward too and hopefully pick up some good experience from there and then I’m off to Bulgaria for the World Junior championship – which should be good. MOTO: What are your hopes for the world championship?
SD: I’m looking for a definite top ten position but I don’t know what to expect really. I am really looking forward to it though. MOTO: What about next year as you’re stepping up to a 250F?
SD: Not sure about next year yet, maybe a few under 21 rounds - next year is a learning year to get used to a bigger bike. MOTO: Why have you decided to race a 250 four banger rather than the 125 two-stroke?
SD: I’m not sure really, I’m used to the 4-stroke now. MOTO: Is there anyone you would like to big up?
SD: Roger Harvey, Albion, Honda, Smith, Motul, Pirelli, Trucks R us, FRO, Fork-Rent, Twin Air, Sunline, Ohlins, Troy Lee, DID and Renthal.
