LETTERS FROM AMERICA - MIXED START FOR UK RIDERS
September 22, 2007
Timed qualifying went ahead this morning after a slight delay due to the bike fiasco.Martin Barr was the top UK rider to qualify in 8th position in the MX2 class closely followed by Tommy Searle in 9th. Ryan Villopoto dominated the session by just over a second from Kiwi Ben Townley.

BT had a huge off and may well be suffering with a slight knock to the arm... Italy’s Tony Cairoli finished third three seconds behind the leading time set by Villopoto.

AC will need to be at his best... Billy Mackenzie managed 9th place in the MX1 session but couldn’t match the pace of USA’s Ricky Carmichael who was outstanding on the deep surface of Budds.
Billy put in a steady ninth in timed qualifying

The GOAT is still the GOAT James Noble could only manage a lowly 26th place in the open class with yet another American rider Tim Ferry taking pole position from Ken Dycker and Michael Byrne of Australia.
