Mackenzie and Brown looking forward to Mallory

May 21, 2008

Following the Italian Grand Prix last weekend in Italy, CAS Honda's Billy Mackenzie makes the trip to the all-new Mallory Park circuit near Leicester on Thursday 22nd May for a press day ahead of the prestigious British Motocross Grand Prix.

The 24-year-old has supported the events organiser, RHL Activities, since the planning stages of the Grand Prix, which takes place on June 1st. Despite initially being negative about the staging of the MXGP at the road circuit, Billy, along with the CAS Honda outfit, has offered his feedback and advice to help make the event a success.

Billy will be joined on track by national and local media, along with members of one of the UK's largest Motocross forums during the press event. The Scottish factory Honda rider is attending the day to give his opinion on the circuit to enable the track-builders to add any final touches needed ahead of the British World Championship round.

Billy is currently fifth in the World standings after round five of 15, and has dominated the British MX1 Championship this season aboard his Monster Energy backed CRF450R, winning all eight races so far.

Billy Mackenzie - #211
"I'm really looking forward to the British Grand Prix as for me and the team it is important because it's our 'home' race. I remain optimistic about the track at Mallory Park, and the press day on Thursday should give us the opportunity to offer our advice again on how to make any final adjustments ahead of the race. My CAS Honda CRF450R is performing well and to win in front of all of the British fans would be incredible. I hear the events organisers have a lot of activities planned off the track during the weekend, so the atmosphere should be great and hopefully we can make it a success to keep our Grand Prix at a permanent venue in the UK."

CAS Honda Team Manager Neil Prince
"As CAS Honda is a British based team we've tried to help Gareth (Hockey) and RHL Activities as much as possible in building a World Championship facility at Mallory Park. We understand the importance of our ‘home’ Grand Prix, and we would like to see it find a permanent place on the MXGP calendar; we have to work together to make this event a success. The team attended the very wet press day in April, where both Billy and Mike (Brown) tested the partially completed track to offer their feedback as construction of the circuit began to take shape. Billy will now ride the finished track as part of our ongoing help ahead of the race next week. Hopefully, with the support of the British fans, there will be a great atmosphere and we can gain a good result; I'm certainly looking forward to it."
