Mark returns to racing this weekend in Ireland

Mark Jones makes his return to racing this weekend following his long injury lay off by racing in Ireland as part of his comeback. Team Wulfsport Kawasaki star sustained significant damage to his knee ligaments at a pre-season race in Belgium back in February. Following surgery and a long rehab period, the potentially career ending crash has been overcome and with it, Mark looks to start his season from here. "It's been a long time out but the last few weeks have gone really well. I returned to riding some three weeks ago after the doctor finally gave me the OK to ride, before that I had been training my butt off on the mountain bike and turbo trainer getting the strength and aerobic fitness back where it needs to be. "I feel my speed on the bike is pretty good and with the weather being as bad as it has been, I've had to take a few heavy dabs with the leg with no problems at all, so my confidence has really been boosted by not having to worry about the potential for further damage. I have been using a stock bike which I'll use this weekend and will then test all week with Dave (Morgan - Mark's mechanic) with engines and other development parts to make up for lost time on the race bikes. "I don't really know a lot about the race this weekend, apart from that it's a pretty big race in the Irish calendar. I'll then be on to the British round at Brampton then the GP's in Ireland and the British GP at Donnington. "I'd just like to pass my thanks to Roger McGee (Wulfsport Kawasaki Team Manager) for the support over the last few months as he's given me the time to make sure I come back fit and ready to go."Send this article to a friend
