Moggstar BYMX Moves South for Round Five.
July 10, 2008
After a very successful Round Four at Leuchars, the championship returns to the south of the country, to the hard pack track at Woodford, Run by the Northampton SMXC, the club is working hard to make this round one to remember, they have all the details up on the clubs website, with details and news about the track, how to get there etc. Visit their site at http://www.northamptonsmxc.co.uk.
Scott Elderfield will be out in the Open class to try and take over at the top, from championship leader Joe Gregory, after closing the gap at the top to just two points, after a great overall win at Leuchars. Tommy Fenwick is just behind the top two, with just eleven points difference between him and Elderfield, with Lewis King and Edward Allingham, also in the hunt, any of the three could close in on the top two, if they have a bad weekend.
Luke Hawkins will be hoping to extend his lead at the top of the Big Wheel 85cc class, after taking the overall at Leuchars, even though he had a bad day on day one.
Second place Ryan Houghton had some good results at the last round to keep his place behind Hawkins, but one man on a mission was the smooth and fast Daniel Hutchinson at Leuchars, and he will be out to upset the top two at Woodford. Paul Coates and Jamie McCanney are the next in line, and will show well also.
In the Small Wheel 85cc class, it looks like this will go down to the end as leader of the class Jordan Godwin takes a slender lead into Woodford, from James Dunn in second and Michael Eccles close behind. In fact there is only 28 points difference between the leader and third place. Callan Cooper and Corrie Southward could also upset the top three, as they are back on form after great results at Leuchars.
Ben Green in the Junior 65cc class will be hoping to continue his winning ways, coming to Woodford after a clean sweep at the Elite Championship at Mildenhall, Green will want to extend his lead, from Jason Meara, Robert Yates and back on form Ryan Snaith. This will be one class to watch as the top four battle for the championship. Anything can happen, so watch this space.
