MOTOCROSS SEASON ENDS IN DRAMATIC FASHION

November 26, 2007

Newly crowned 125cc Class Champion Shivam Vinayak and Kyle Ray ended the Kenya National Motocross Championship series in a dramatic fashion at Jamhuri Park on Sunday.

Kyle was still leading the Championship with two points on the last heat of the eighth round but not until Shivam had the last heat firmly in his grasps that the teenage rider raised his hands in jubilation to celebrate what Tom Porter had denied him last year.

In scoring a maximum 60 points from the eighth and last round on November 5, Shivam attained the unassailable 425 points beating Kyle by 2 points in the final table standings.

Diani-based Lionnet siblings- Warren and Graham- also fought out with vim and vigor throughout the season and most importantly when they led Tom to a 1-2 finish during the sixth round in July.

But Tom downplayed the upset then saying he still had the requisite ammo to atone for the loss before the season comes to a close.

Tom already had the title in the bag after posting an unassailable lead of 395 points in the seventh round last month and opted out of the last round.

Davide Bernardi (KTM 65) won the 65cc Class Championship after securing an unconquerable 450 points while Ivan Guya was the runner up with 396.

A torrid Cruze Muigai came off from injury with victory in the last series race. But Cruze had to contend with playing second fiddle to Tutu Maina whose second overall place in the last event handed him the Championship on 363 points.

Eight year old Samir Anwar was also declared the 2007 50cc Class Champion with 409 points. Samir won all the three heats at stake with 60 points while Nadav Zarfin came home second with 49.
