MX Rookie heads for Lommel

The “MX Rookie” was officially presented on the 1st February 2008 in Lommel (Belgium). It is a large event reserved to young motocross riders of different European countries who, after preliminary tests from the 28th to the 31st of August, will compete in the final event on the 1st of August on the local international track, during the Grand Prix MX-1 program.

This is a promotional event of large importance, perhaps the most important of its kind in Europe, wisely linked to a prestigious event of the World Championship with large media attractiveness. To the presentation, particularly crowded of journalists and television operators, intervened the Flemish Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Mr Bert Anciaux, who assured maximum support to the event, underlining the importance of motocross in Belgium, country with rich of traditions and champions.

Among authorities, the major of Lommel, Mr Peter Van Velthoven, the organiser of the event, Mr Eric Geboers, the 2007 World Champion, Mr Steve Ramon, the management of the Belgian Motorcycling Federation, who provided full details on the programme and on the promotional meaning of the “MX Rookie”

Greatly appreciated was the intervention of UEM Vice-President, Mr Thuur Coen, who testified the great interest from UEM to this initiative and its full support in order to guarantee the maximum success.
