Searle victorious at Donington

August 26, 2007

Tommy Searle did Britain proud today with his first ever GP overall victory. Tommy led from start to finish sealing a famous victory in front of his adoring British fans – seventeen year old Tommy looked ecstatic on the podium with a clenched fist salute and a huge grin to match.

In the MX1 the crowd were treated to a momentous battle mid race as Brown, Dedycker, Pourcel and Strijbos battled for second place but it was the little Italian maestro Cairoli who did the business with a superb gate to flag win.

All roads lead to Leirop in Holland with the MX1 world championship still all to play for – Coppins did make a return today but was obviously still in pain from his shoulder and now drops to second in the championship for the first time this year.

Steve Ramon now leads the championship by fourteen points – Lierop is certainly the place to be next weekend.
