Second coming for first round of British Minibike series.

May 29, 2007

After a false start to the series, caused by extreme weather conditions on the original date of Sunday 13th May, the 2007 British 4 Stroke Minibike Championships will finally get under way this coming Sunday 27th May at Tonymoto.

There is no doubt that the brave decision to delay the opening round by two weeks was the right one. The series organisers did not want to start this brand new championship on the wrong footing.

After having worked long and hard to gain full ACU backing to give minibike racing in the UK a recognised national series, MBP are totally focused on ensuring that this inaugural championship sets the correct foundations for the future.

The highly applauded Tonymoto facility near Winchester, Dorset is located just off the A34 and will be signposted from Junction 9 of the M3 motorway. In attempt to encourage new blood into the sport, entry to spectators is free of charge.

Racing will start at 11.00am prompt with Britain’s leading minibike riders fighting it out against a whole host of weekend warriors who will be looking to make their mark on this exciting new discipline.

The short postponement has created limited availability for entries in some of the classes, full information regarding this late opportunity can be found on the official championship website www.mini4gb.com or by sending an e-mail to

Ex National 125cc British motocross champion, Paul Hunt heads up the organizing team and confirmed that everything is now in place for a thrilling first encounter. “We were absolutely gutted to have had to postpone the first round, but to have run in those conditions would not have been fair on our paying racers or our series sponsors.”

Hunt continued. “This is a great opportunity for us to put minibike racing on the map, and we know we will only have once chance to do a good job, as first impressions really do leave their mark with people and this will be at the heart of the championship’s future success.”

“The weather has at long last been kind to us, so Sunday should be a great day for all involved. We just can’t wait for it to happen now, and I am sure the riders feel the same, because as an ex racer I know just how it feels on the build up to a big meeting.” Concluded Hunt.
