*SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND**

July 27, 2007

Its that time of the week where the MOTO staff pack their the things up. clean their desks and hop on the nearest mod of transport to the next motocross race for this weekends craziness.

Well after another busy week making Jeff tea and cleaning Blissy's lenses, I'm off to Marshfield for the DEP championship, not sure what to expect weather wise this weekend but one things for sure - I won't be marrying Jodie Marsh (even though I'm single- ladies form an orderly queue)
Ms Marsh is making an appearance at Marshfield filming her new MTV TV show and going by the feedback its going to be a scream. So get yourselves down to Marshfield on the A420 between Bristol and Chippenham - its going to be a lot of fun!

If I had hair on my head instead of resembling an Ostrich egg, more than likely I’d be walking into a hairdressers for a short back and sides and a cut throat razor shave. The rather portly, Brylcreem groomed gentleman would then discreetly say “something for the weekend Sir?

” Well if that was to actually happen for this weekend I might just take him up on his offer to purchase a box or two of French letters. For this weekend it’s up to me to escort Jodie Marsh around the paddock at the DEP challenge (challenge eh? how appropriate!!). I, apparently need to introduce her to anyone brave enough to step up to the challenge of marrying Miss Marsh and be the knight in shining armour and the big news in her MTV show ‘Totally Jodie Marsh; who will take her up the aisle?!’ Ummm, I wonder who will? I’m sure they’ll be a few willing candidates, don’t think it’ll be me though. I’ve called Jodie a couple of times since she came into the office on Monday but so far she hasn’t returned any of my calls. I hope she shows up, I don’t think I could handle the rejection of being stood up! So needless to say after attending a mates wedding and then rolling into to Marshfield on Sunday morning to deal with Miss Marsh I’m set up for shall we say, an interesting weekend! I’ll let you know how it goes next week. Oh and by the way those French letters aren’t for me….right!! They’re just a precaution for any adventurer. Bon Voyage and up the old Sea Dog.

Well, as much as I’d like to be in Loket for the Motocross GP or at Marshfield to put myself forward as a potential suitor for Jodie Marsh I have commitments at home to deal with. But my head will be in the Czech Republic as will the channel on my cable TV receiver. Loket is a funny track. It’s a kind of gravel surface, but if it rains it gets really dirty and messy, and tends to hold the water on top. At least the weather forecast doesn’t look too bad, although it would be nice to get a proper mud race out of the way before I get back on the trail for the last four GPs. Another Pourcel v Cairoli battle in MX2 looks a good bet, and in MX1 Josh Coppins will undoubtedly whack in another couple of top three finishes. The other positions will be filled by whoever is feeling it this weekend, although Tanel Leok will have a lot of support from his Estonian fans, and if he could win a moto that will take the number of MX1 race winners up to eleven.

Whoever does finish on the podium will have to find a lot of room on the mantelpiece for the porcelain trophies awarded at Loket. Standing almost as tall as Tony Cairoli, I’m still waiting for someone on the podium to drop one and it smash into a million pieces or to get caught up in the moment and chuck it into the throng below along with his helmet.

Off the track I’ll be missing our regular Loket visits to Club Kalifornia and a place the locals call the ‘Irish Bar,’ where beer is 50p a go and the music plays all night. But I won’t miss the Mexican restaurant that serves up mayonnaise as sour cream and baked beans as re-fried beans. But that’s the Czech Republic for you - cheap in more ways than one. Which I guess brings me back to Jodie…

Transformers, Robots in Disguise! Yes its a lame start but I'll be starting my weekend by being sucked into the summer blockbuster frenzy I'm afraid, I've got to go see it, I use to think I was a transformer when I was little so can't wait. Then as usual, lay in bed Saturday till noon and wait for Saturday kitchen to start, although I'm not too keen on the new fella, I preferred the Dwarf. Then finally get out to my bike and give it the once over.

I'm hoping the weather's going to keep nice, as along with some of my fellow 'Norfolk good for nothing's' we're planning a trip to Essex MX. I keep passing it on the M11 and been meaning to take a trip there for ages, with a few phone calls to my mates, me, pye, Ben and Olly if he ever picks up his bloody phone will hopefully have a good days riding ahead of us, even if we do spend more time in the pits talking, but isn't that what club level mx is all about?
