SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND

“Oh and don’t forget I need your ‘something for the weekend’ words!” says Chussy just before he hangs up the blower on another one of our daily phone calls “You’ve been slack with them of late!” Listen to him. He’s only been here for a couple of hours, or so it seems and he’s already ordering me around the cheeky sod. He’s right though, I got a bit slack with this but I have an excuse. It’s been bloody manic here at MOTO. There is so much going on behind the scenes as we try to drive this magazine forward. Brilliant then I return to my something for the weekend when there’s bugger all going on in Europe . However there is the final AMA national at Glen Helen. A track I’ve been lucky enough to ride on National day in an industry race. That place rocks, coming down Mount St.Helen really is something else, going up it is pretty special too! I wish I was there this weekend to see if BT can claw back the lead that Ryan Villopoto has slowly etched in the last month or so. I have huge respect for both of those two riders. They really have been on a different level than the others this year. The Motocross class has been awesome too, especially when RC and Stewart haven’t been racing!! Ok RC won’t be back but James will. Fear not though, it won’t be boring, James always makes a series exciting and I firmly believe that Townley will keep him on his toes when he goes to Big Red in 08. Anyway back this year, my money is on Langston for the motocross class, he’s been running hot all year and live out near Glen Helen. With an 8 point lead I reckon he’ll do it. For Townley I think it’s too late. Villy will not give up 19 points unless he gets a major problem, so I’m playing the best odds there. The AMA Nationals have been awesome once again. I may not be popular in saying it but regarding the tracks and the racing I still think we could learn a lot from the Yanks.

So as I can’t go to watch for this weekend I finally have a full weekend off. I didn’t go to a race last weekend but I still churned out some work. This weekend I’m off driving dune buggies at my mates 30th birthday do. Then I’ll be getting mildly drunk, re-charging my batteries and getting ready for the big push over the top for the end of season. Enjoy your weekend. I know I will, I’ll be drinking ‘n driving!

“Oh and don’t forget your something for the weekend as you’ve been slacking lately Perrett”, I’ve only been at MOTO for a few a hours or so it seems and the team are slacking already – ha-ha

Not really - you guys who read the magazine and log on to the site everyday don’t realise what a great job everyone is doing behind the scenes – from Pedro Jeff’s fan waver to Olga my personal wrestling coach and tea-maid, everyone is doing a fantastic job.

To this weekend then, well it’s the final AMA, I would love to see BT win the Lites and Alessi take the Heavies (I think their called that?) either way I would have loved to have been there, ah well maybe next year.

I’m off to Culham for the final Elite Youth Cup, should be a mega weekend and hopefully some of the guys will come back as the first ever Elite Youth Cup champions. I should have been in France shooting the Rugby World Cup for a major agency but I thought “no” I can’t let the guys down on the final round of the year – so Culham here I come.

Anyway must dash as Olga is ready for our daily wrestling session – dam she needs to shave her pits!
