STEFAN EVERTS, MX AND ENDURO FACTORY RIDERS RE-SIGN WITH KTM!

July 24, 2007

KTM’s Offroad Sports Director Pit Beirer announced at a press conference in Faenza Italy that ten-time motocross world champion Stefan Everts has signed as MX team boss for two more years. It was also announced that Tyla Rattray and Tommy Searle would stay on next year with the KTM Red Bull Racing Team and KTM Enduro Factory Rider Ivan Cervantes had renewed his contract for three more seasons.

Everts joined the company at the beginning of the season to manage the MX factory riders and to instil in them some of his own rich experience gained in international racing. He originally signed for one year but will now continue his work for an additional two years. “It was a very good year in 2007, especially with my relationship with Pit”, Everts said at the press conference, “I only wanted to stay for one year but I have had a good time and now I have some great plans for working with the team during the next two years.”

Both MX factory riders also expressed pleasure that they were remaining with KTM. “I have always had a good relationship with KTM. I trust them very much and I get great support,” the South African Rattray said. Tommy Searle also said he was looking forward to one more year in Europe with KTM. “I want to do as well as I can and try to have a great season in 2008,” the British teenager said.

Cervantes, the Spanish Enduro rider, leads the championship standings in E3. He has been on the podium in every race so far this season and has had five race wins. Cervantes said he had considered other offers but had decided to stay and keep winning with KTM. “I am happy to be staying with KTM because I feel like a real “orange” factory rider. I have a very good relationship with the company, with the Farioli team and all the KTM people in Austria and Spain are excellent. I have won two of my titles with this brand and I hope to win many more.”
