Sunday at Weston - Beach race ends prematurely

October 21, 2007

It was all happening at down Weston today, firstly nearly 1200 riders were safely let loose on one of the best beaches this side of the Severn bore, secondly the sun was out all day which was a miracle in its self at this time of year and thirdly the man made wooded bridge decided to end the 25th anniversary race prematurely due to safety concerns.

This was no fault of anyone but probably due to the event being so dry and the hundreds of riders hitting the boards which most years will have compacted sand to absorb the impact.

Out came the flag with ½ hour still to run with victory going to world champion Steve Ramon who led from the go, Josh Coppins came home in second and Brad Anderson third. The official results will be online soon – enjoy the images.
