SUSO MVR-D Suzuki - Kane whips up a storm in Devon
Natalie Kane destroyed the opposition in the first of two British Ladies motocross championship rounds, held at Little Silver today.
Moto one saw Natalie make a couple of unfortunate mistakes but she put that behind her to storm to a 37 second win from her nearest rival.
In Moto two it got even better with a 2 minute victory, quite outstanding from one of the fastest female motocross riders on the planet, all roads now lead to the first round of the world championship in TEUTSCHENTHAL, GERMANY.
Natalie’s comments
“I collided with another rider and just fell off, I got up but I wasn’t thinking properly and fell off again in one of the corners. I won but it didn’t go to plan. I knew I could ride so much better and I did in race two, I wanted to be smooth and flowing and I won by 2 minutes, the day went ok and my SUSO MVR-D Suzuki was perfect”.

James Cottrell making his debut in the British under21 championship suffered a disappointing qualifying session but put that behind him to put in a solid ride in both races to finish a determined 18th overall.

Team Manager – Mark Chamberlain’s comments
“James didn’t put on his best display in qualifying but to the put in two good performances in the races was very pleasing and positive to see.
Natalie is a class above everyone else and she was expected to win so maybe that was the reason she crashed twice in Moto one due to lack of concentration, it’s about winning the British championship and build for the women’s world championship which is in Germany.
We’ve had a difficult couple of weeks trying to put things together for the season in a short space of time, by Donington we will be there”.
The team now head to Hawkstone Park for the third pre-season international which normally attracts thousands of fans come rain or shine.
Carl Nunn and Jason Dougan make their UK debut on the SUSO MVR-D Suzuki and will certainly be two riders vying for top positions in the competitive MX2 class.

Pioneer Yamaha - MMX British Open / Under 21 – Little Silver, Devon Feb 24th
The 2008 motocross season has now sprung into action and it was a mixed day for Pioneer Emberson Yamaha at Little Silver, Devon. The day was tops for new recruit and defending champ in the new reformatted “Open Championship” but the Under 21’s consisted of 1st lap mishaps denting any chances of podium places on a very much one lined and hard to pass hillside circuit.
Open
Wayne Smith made a good start in the opening race of the season in fourth behind Bryan MacKenzie, Jordan Rose and Ray Rowson but without making a racing pass on the one lined track managed to get to second from Rose dropping out and MacKenzie making a mistake and when Smith managed to get close enough towards the end looking to strike for the lead he unfortunately lost the front end in a corner losing any chance of race win number one of the season.

Race two and this time Smith knew a good start was important and he rounded turn one in second and soon disposed of MacKenzie early on and from there the race was won but only a small mistake would have let by a chasing Rowson and Mark Hucklebridge. So a race win in race two was good enough to take the overall on the day.
Under 21

Robert Hamilton was the fastest of the trio in 4th with Alan Keet (above) 8th and Daniel Arnold (below) 14th respectively but race one was marred by two pile ups in the first two corners which involved all three Pioneer Emberson Yamaha riders. It was only Keet who managed to race back from dead last to 18th to salvage any points as Arnolds bike was to damaged to carry on and Hamilton was landed on by another rider and was forced out too.

Race two could only get better but young Dan and Hamilton were involved in first lap incidents but still fought on. Keet was 16th on lap one and halfway through the race had Hamilton (below) for company and both ran in tandem for the remainder of the race eventually finishing in 10th and 11th respectively. Arnold just couldn’t get into the groove after another spill and finished outside the points in 29th

The team now looks forward to a much sterner test for man and machine at the Hawkstone Park International, Shropshire this coming Sunday.
