As announced by MOTO on Friday, Kristian Whatley has joined CCM racing and made his debut aboard their 250cc four stroke at the third round of the British Under21 championship at Dean Moor in Cumbria, this Sunday.

Austin Clews of CCM welcomes Whatley to the team

After starting the season well with several top ten Maxxis championship finishes and currently holding second place overall in the Under 21’s championship riding for the Nigel Arnold Racing KTM team, the move has come as a surprise to many.

We caught up with Kristian before the event to find what made him change to the British bike manufacturer, “basically CCM got in contact because they have been impressed with me this season, they turned up with a deal on Thursday, I had a ride on the bike for about a hour and I liked it, so I signed the deal there and then, it’s pretty good for me and I’ve now got guaranteed GP entries for Britain, Ireland and Belgium and the plan is for a full GP season next year”.

There she blows

After watching Kristian take pole position in qualifying, dominate the first race after passing Shane Carless early on in the proceedings to take the win and then coming through from 27th position on lap one of the second race after a first turn crash to take 3rd and claim second overall on the day it now seems that CCM have somebody who could bring out the full potential of their 250cc machine after Richie Worrall’s injury hit season.

CCM’s management are delighted to have Kristian on board with the team and was more than pleased with his achievement on the day in giving the team their first podium result with the new bike and even CCM’s special guest on the day multiple World Superbike Champion, Carl Fogarty was full of praise for Whatley’s achievements on his debut for the team.

One of the reasons why CCM signed him - talent
