Lawson takes it at Dean Moor

May 14, 2008

Glorious sunshine, and a well prepared track, greeted riders from all over the North to the West Cumbria clubs Youth centre and club round, at the picturesque Dean Moor circuit, which was watered and ready for action.

In the Junior 65 class, young Penrith rider Ben Green stamped his authority from the start, taking all three race wins in style. Sam Braithwaite and Curtis Ferguson claimed second and third on the day.

In the Small wheel 85 class, young Tayla Smith who moved up from the 65 class, just a month ago, showed he is getting to grips with the 85cc machine with some great riding. But it was another local boy Scott Hail who dominated the class by taking all three race wins. Smith gave him a fright in race three by taking the hole shot, but the experience of Hail soon took him to the front to complete his hat trick of wins. Smith claimed second, and Scott Richardson third.

The battle in the Big wheel class saw Lewis Parkinson and Jake Gowan fight for the wins, with Ryan Staveley and Tom Moore also having their own battle for the minor placings. Gowan came out on top to take the overall with Parkinson second, Moore claimed third and Staveley fourth.

Shane Tolson took the honours in the Junior 125s, after some great battles with Jake Boyes and Joe Harpur, Tolson eventually took the overall on the day, with Boyes and Harpur settling for second and third.

In the Adult C class, the battle was between Gavin Lowes and Chris Chapman, Lowes got the hole shots in all three races, but could not stop Chapman taking the wins as he tired. Chapman took the overall, Lowes second and Liam Morris third.

Battles between three riders all day, saw Dave Cowsill, take the overall in the Adult B class, after Robert Brown and Dale O’Connor gave him no slack for mistakes. Brown and O’Connor battled all day for second overall, but it was O’Connor who claimed second after a win in Race two and a second, to beat Brown down to third overall.

The Adult A class was a show down of two local riders, Richard Lawson and Jamie Law, George Walton was also in the scrap with them, along with young Richie Worrall riding the CCM. Lawson blasted off a race one win with Law in second and Walton in third. Race two and Walton took the hole shot, with Law just behind him, and Lawson hard on their heels, Lawson got past them both and won race two. Race three and Lawson was off again with Law, Walton and Worrall all in the chase. Lawson claimed the overall with three race wins, Law second, Walton beat Worrall to third place by the better averages. Worrall taking home fourth overall.
