Remedies Rains And Pours
June 16, 2008
The next round of the Remedies Bar Championships took place at Little Silver, and as I arrived the track was in prime condition, with the circuit being bathed in glorious sunshine. However, come the second practise session, the clouds thickened and the rain began to fall.

As the opening expert race began it was pole sitter Andrew Gillett that grabbed the holshot with Dave Yelland and Luke Mellows in pursuit. As the rest of the field made there way round the first corner, there were two victims whose race would begin from the back and these were reigning champion John May and Will Worden. As the race went on Gillett would secure a healthy advantage and go on to take the victory. He was followed home by Yelland and Ben Griffiths riding superb on his 250f Suzuki which placed him as the first 125 Expert rider home. Kip Herring came home in fourth, effectively being the third Expert Open rider home. Danial Preston was the next 125 rider home followed by Dominic Foreman.
In the second race Mellows this time grabbed the holeshot, but this wasn’t long lived as he got cross rutted which sent him of the track and into the hedges. Gillett then inherited the lead and looked to have his second victory of the day until a lapse of concentration which let Herring through to take the victory. Gillett came home in second with Jordan Carter in third. Preston was the first of the 125 Expert home, being followed by Griffiths and Darren Shears.

In the final expert race Gillett again hit the front but this time had Mellows in pursuit, and he was out to make amends after his second race result. Herring was running in third until running of the track which allowed Yelland to gain a position. As the race went on Mellows took the lead on a couple of occasions but couldn’t make it stick and in the end would have to settle for second behind Gillett. Yelland brought it home in third closely followed by Herring. Foreman was the first Expert 125 rider home followed by Shears and Griffiths.
In the Junior A races we would see three different winners over the course of the day. In the opening race Scott Williams took the victory after leading from start to finish. Williams was followed home by James Cole and Mark Wakely. In the second race Nick Wadge was the man to beat, with race one victor Williams finishing in second, with Michael Williams in third. In the final race Kelvin Townsend grabbed the holeshot and after a close final few laps went on to take the victory. Scott Williams again had to settle for second with Michael Williams again taking third.
In the opening Junior B race James Gleadhill took the victory with Gavin Fry in second and James Camp in third. Gleadhill again took the victory in the second race, this time being followed home by Matthew Richards and Gary Worth. In the final race Richard Cole took the victory ahead of Gleadhill who was on for a hat-trick of wins. Gary Worth came home in third.
In the junior C class Richard Churchil took the opening two race victories being followed home by Mark Gale in both, with Jake Waring in third in the opening race, and Willaim Ell third in the second race. In the final race Ell took the victory followed home by Ian Cawse and Jamie Loveday.
In the Over 35’s class Adrian Cowshall took the opening two race victories, with Gary Down second in both and Keith Hanson third in the opening race and Rob Lewis third in the second race. Down how ever got the better of Cowshall in the final race by taking the victory from Cowshall with Lewis again rounding out the top three.
