MIKE BROWN MEMORIAL MOTOCROSS AT RUSHMEAD RACE PARK
March 26, 2008
On Good Friday, the Marshfield Motocross Club staged their annual Mike Brown memorial meeting,an event which despite very little advertisement was still able to attract what will probably be one of the biggest AMCA crowds of the season.
Topping the bill was the ‘Old Friends’ class which brings together riders past and present along with Mike Brown’s friends and racing companions all of various abilities to compete in his memory.Unfortunately the intended stars of Fridays event, former World champions Dave Thorpe and Graham Noyce were both non-starters .
Overall winner this year though was Lee King, using all of his vast experience to outgun Mitch Boyland,Tom Brown,Neil Carroll and Richard Southcott.Making special guest appearances on Good Friday in the ‘Old Friends ‘ event was two well known Marshfield residents Mike Church, father of top rider Tom and Emma Hucklebridge, wife of Mark Hucklebridge.
In the main Expert classes at Marshfield,it was very appropriate that Arran Poolman and Lee Dunham, two riders supported by Alan Brown of local dealers MotoXtreme should earn the overall victories. In the MX1 action,Poolman took all three moto wins followed home on each occasion by fast-starting Richard Meakin and Matthew Stokes.Over in the MX2 Experts,Lee Dunham also won all three clashes with a very determined Carl Benjamin finishing as runner-up in each outing.
Daniel Marsh was to take the first win of the day in MX1 Seniors before Daniel Cheese took control of proceedings from here onwards. In MX2 Seniors,Luke Smith(2) and Jordan Broadway took the race wins, the overall first place trophy going to Smith.

In the four Junior groups at Marshfield, class victories went to Richard Newman,Michael Payne,Oliver Roddick and Joshua Roddick. Both Newman and Joshua Roddick were to record maximum points on their way to victory.
