Riders and spectators enjoy great racing at Babell
May 20, 2008
The North Shropshire/North Wales motocross group returned to Babell last Sunday courtesy of Mold and District MCC.
Excellent organisation and fantastic weather allowed the meeting to cater for nearly 250 riders and a large number of spectators.
With the large number of entries there were four groups of Junior riders, and in Group One, Christopher Jones from Chester took third overall, with only one point between him and second spot.
Group Two saw close racing between the top three with Reece Oglesby from Nantwich emerging as the eventual winner, with David Francis from Mold and Daniel Kellet (Oswestry) finishing behind him on equal points.
A win from Francis in race three secured him second place.
Jason Francis from Mold was the winner of Group Three, with Grant Jones (Oswestry) and Gary Siddley (Flint) completing the line up.
In Group Four a fantastic first ride from Tom Harris of Mold secured first place while clubmate Arwel Jones finished in second to clinch the first trophy of his racing career.
MX1 Seniors was dominated by local riders, with Michael Harley from Flint taking all three chequered flags and first position. Liam Millington and Adrian Lewis both members of Mold MCC took second and third with only two points between them.
MX2 Seniors saw local success from James Griffiths and Jason Calkin who finished second and third in the class.
Will Hughes from Chester had a consistent ride and took second place in the Inter Junior Races.
Steven Tillotson from Oswestry stormed home to take the chequered flag in all three Experts races, winning the class for the fourth consecutive meeting, and Martin Jones from North Shropshire took second with Wesley Egan in third.
